STIGMATA FOR THE FANS
Stigmata will perform alive at the Blizz Pool Parlour on
September 14.
'Dazed &
Confused' the concert held recently at Clancy's was a roaring success.
But a minor technical problem created mayhem to the members of Stigmata.
Each and every
musician of the band was devastated believing that their fans didn't
enjoy their music as much as they normally do. Even though the crowed
looked pleased with the music, Stigmata's thoughts were different.
The boys have
always made it a point to make sure that their audiences get what
they want. Talking to Shehan (bassist) and Dilukshan (drummer) of
the band " We play for our fans. We are what we are today because
of our fans, if it wasn't for them there would be no Stigmata!"
was their exact words.
With that in
mind and the fact of keeping their audiences happy, the band will
be playing on Saturday, September 14 at 8:30pm onwards at the "Blizz
Pool Parlour" for free.
That means there
will be no entrance fee charged and all are welcome. There will
also be an opening performance by "Soul Skinner" in order
to create a little more excitement to the evening.
Shani
does Sri Lanka proud
Sri Lankan Pianist Shani Diluka Abeygoonaratne created history by
becoming the very first Lankan to participate in the prestigious

2002' held at Salt Lake City, Utah in USA recently.
This competition

applied for the opportunity to win up to $30,000, and give their
career a giant boost with concert engagements around the world.
This number of applicants is more than any music competition has

the World Federation of International Music Competitions produced
by the Bachauer Foundation.
Out of
520 applicants, Shani Diluka was selected for the final butch of

"I like
to play in international piano competitions because it is very interesting
to play various pieces in front of a professional jury. I really
want to give emotion to the jury and it's a way of showing all the
different faces of my personality. Especially in the Gina Bachauer
Competition, we have the possibility of playing in different rounds.
I really think that playing in a competition should be like playing
in a concert: we have to give emotion and show the beauty of art,"
she told us press a few days before the competition. Shani is also
preparing two CD recordings for 2002 (Schumann and Brahms Lieder
and Russian Melodies). Also possessing a keen interest in contemporary
music, she collaborates with famous composers such as Graciane Finzi,
