Steps in step

The group Steps double A side release 'When I Say Goodbye/Summer of Love' has provided the act with its l0th single release. The song coinciding with summer has proved to be so popular that it checked into the chart at No: 5. Backed by a video of synchronised dance routines the song is produced by Pete Waterman.

The song is taken from the 'Stepacular' album. The Steps have just completed a tour of the UK and are working on the third album due out in October.

Liam Gallagher and Patsy Kensit have gone their separate ways. A spokesman for Patsy Kensit announced on July 7 that the couple were separating and that Patsy was reported to be sad. A few hours after the announcement Patsy Kensit left the home she was sharing with husband Liam Gallagher of Oasis in St.John's Wood, London. Removal men followed with her belongings. When the announcement of the separation was made Liam was with the band Oasis touring Europe.

The couple married in 1998 and had a baby boy in September 1999.

The couple's problems became public knowledge when Liam attacked the music dished out by Boy George at a fashion show in Paris about a month and a half back. Patsy was taken by surprise at Liam's public outburst.

The couple also placed their flat on sale about a month ago. Patsy Kensit, an actress and one time lead vocalist of the group 'Eight Wonders' has been married twice before and had a child from one of her previous marriages. She is now reported to be dating Jamie Foreman.

The Corrs have brought a mixture of pop/Irish and country to the helm of the UK chart this week. With a strong influence of Shania Twain, the Irish family band entered the UK singles chart at No: 1 with the song 'Breathless'. Released nearly a week ago the song returns the Corrs to the singles chart after nearly 11/2 years. '

Breathless', is the fifth single from the band to surface on the UK singles chart. The Corrs first came to the attention of a wider audience in 1998 when they recorded 'Dreams' for the Fleetwood Mac tribute album. The song was the band's debut hit as it peaked at No: 6 in May 1998. The other tracks that gave them chart success in the UK were 'What Can I Do' No: 3 in August 98, 'So Young' No: 6 in November '98 and 'Runaway' No: 2 in January 1999.

The latter two singles gave The Corrs global recognition. As they toured, copies of their albums soared. The group was treated with a lot of respect.

They were invited to perform at the opening of the Millennium Dome on 31st December before the Queen, Prime Minister, Archbishop of Cantebury and other VIP's and the invited general public. At that memorable event the Corrs performed the song 'So Young'. Now the band has notched up its very first No: 1 in the UK with 'Breathless'. They are now ready to take on the US market and with the writing skills of Shania Twain and her husband, things should work out positively for the Corrs.

Just as Limp Bizkit's 'Take A Look Around' was to be released, the song was tipped to be a No: 1 hit. The rap song is in fact the theme song to "Mission Impossible-2" which stars Tom Cruise and Sir Anthony Hopkins among others.

The video clip to Bizkit's song developed such an interest in the movie that as the film itself was release sales began to slow down. Nevertheless 'Take A Look Around' which features a portion of the classic "Mission Impossible" theme did have to settle for the No: 3 position on the UK singles chart.

The troubled band Oasis too have a new entry this week. At No: 4 is the song 'Sunday Morning Call', with a video clip influenced by the movie "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest". Unfortunately Oasis does not seem to be having the huge following and interest as they did a few years ago.

They were lucky to see the first single from the current album 'Standing On The Shoulders of Gaints' hit No: 1 this year. The song was 'Go Let It Out'.

Next week look out for 'We Will Rock You' by Five and 'Life Is A Rollercoaster' by Ronan Keating.

At the party in the park gig on Sunday 9th July, David Beckham, the husband of Victoria Adams was reported to be seen filming his wife perform live on stage for the first time as a solo artist.
