Some have all the luck

A two star man gave up his uniform many moons ago to take up assignment in a five star outfit.

The new job centered around dealing with a few score men, some who badly needed lessons in courtesy and good behaviour. Yet, the thugs among them gave our two star hero security cover.

Now comes the news that for years the two star man had continued to enjoy a rare privilege, one not even extended to Cabinet Ministers.

Some top notchers seem to have all the luck and all the blessings of their bosses who preach but don't practice.

The neighbouring Islamic Republic of Maldives has begun to get concerned about escalating battles between troops and Tigers in the north.

A high ranking official from the archipelago's Defence Ministry was in Colombo this week studying the developments and its possible impact on his country.
